Ink and Eraser owes its existence to Craig's 40th birthday. Hope, knowing what
an Iowa State fan Craig is from witnessing the many hours he spent glued to TV,
radio and computer agonizing over every missed three-pointer and tackle for
loss, arranged to have the coaches at ISU sign a card wishing me a happy birthday.
The only snag was that she had a dickens of a time finding an Iowa State-themed
card for them to sign. "Someone ought to create some and sell them," she said.
"Ngggh," Craig replied. And, lo and behold, here they are several months later selling
Iowa State greeting cards. A year later they added Hawkeye cards to the lineup.
And who are Craig and Hope?
Hope takes care of all the boring stuff like marketing and arranging printing and
ordering boxes and labels and acquiring licensing rights. She's a graduate of
Drake University and has worked as a copy editor at the Omaha World-Herald
and the Lexington Herald-Leader. In addition to her hard work on our greeting
cards, she also finds time for freelance editing jobs. Oh, and she's a stay-at-home
mom, too. Slacker.
Craig draws the pictures and puts the stuff on the website ... when he's not busy
obsessing about Iowa State athletics, that is. Go Cyclones! He's an Iowa State grad and works as a graphic
artist at the Des Moines Register.
